The Shnood pattern is an all inclusive guide to creating your dream piece of whimsical headwear. This is a pattern you can come back to over and over again and produce different results every time! There is endless room for creativity and customisation. Choose your own adventure:
- Pixie, Gnome or Wizard length
- A simple tie, a scarf or a ribbed balaclava (with or without a drawstring)
- Dangler options GALORE
I include detailed written instructions for every part of the process, accompanied by thorough step by step pictures tutorials, charts and linked videos. This pattern is suitable for adventurous beginners and up! You should know the basic stitches and how to decrease. Foundation half double crochet is the trickiest stitch involved, but I include comprehensive instructions for this stitch. This pattern is made to measure and does NOT include specific stitch counts and sizes.
This pattern requires a weight 4 or 5 yarn. Yarn usage will vary based on yarn, head size, and chosen neck closure. As a rough guide:
~350m/383yds for a Pixie length
~410m/448yds for a Gnome length
~485m/530yds for a Wizard length
The Tester's Gallery is full of inspiration and details on yarns and hook sizes.
A huge thank you to all of the delightful humans who helped me bring this design to life.
